Future Lawyers
Our VI Form students love to take part in discussions and debates and have a strong interest in human rights, politics and current affairs. Not surprisingly, many of them are interested in pursuing a future career as a solicitor or barrister. So, we were delighted to welcome a group of undergraduates from KCL’s Legal Outreach Society to our VI Form to give our students a clear understanding of what studying Law at university entails.
During the presentation, students were given examples of a number of different areas of Law including Tort, Environmental, Human Rights and Criminal Law. They also had the opportunity to exercise their critical thinking and problem-solving skills through discussing a legal problem relating to criminal liability.
‘I enjoyed the depth the presentation went into to describe and explain each sector of law and the process it may take to get there. I also am very glad that there is a list of resources in the presentation’, commented one of our students.
We also work with King’s Legal Outreach team to arrange 1-1 mentoring with our Year 12 students who benefit from regular contact with a current Law Undergraduate who can help guide them through the process of preparing and applying to university.
‘The 1-1 mentoring makes me feel much more confident about applying for a Law degree’ explained one of our students "My mentor has already given me so much helpful advice and makes me feel excited about my future!’"
We’d like to extend our special thanks to Parthenia and her team from King’s for offering such a valuable programme!
