Preston Manor School awarded the Race and Conscious Equality Charter Mark
Preston Manor School has been recognised for its commitment to action and improvement in relation to race equality, and has been awarded the Race and Conscious Equality (RACE) Charter Mark.
This is an extremely prestigious award and Preston Manor School has been recognised nationally for their commitment to improving race equality and prioritising an inclusive culture where staff, students, parents and partners of all ethnicities are equally valued by being awarded the charter mark. The RACE charter mark has been developed by the SSAT and Fig Tree International for schools in the UK who wish to demonstrate their commitment to action and improvement, in relation to race equality, in all aspects of their work as educators, employers and community leaders.
To achieve the charter mark, Preston Manor School completed a comprehensive package of training for governors, senior leaders and middle leaders and submitted an evaluation report detailing their extensive work towards equality and pledging their commitment to ongoing development in this area. Angelina Idun, Director of Education at SSAT said that their "action plan clearly shows a positive ethos and culture which champions and strives for conscious equality and inclusivity throughout the school community".
Ann Palmer, CEO of Fig Tree International, added that "this recognises Preston Manor School’s’ determination to make a difference, not only in their own school, but also in the local community".
Preston Manor School is the only all-through school to have been given this prestigious award.
