STEM Nature Artist Workshop

Selected Year 9 students explored the intersection of science and art during a unique workshop led by a professional artist, Phil Neal. Inspired by their visit to the Brent Reservoir, they transformed observations of nature into creative expressions, blending scientific understanding with artistic flair.

"The STEM nature-art workshop took place on Wednesday 18 September, where students were escorted to an art room and introduced to the Sculptor and Artist Phil Neal. He informed us about his former work experiences, talking about the difficulties and inconveniences of working in hospital facilities and with famous television casts such as Shaun Connery. Phil spoke about the new project he had been developing for the Brent reservoir. We would be contributing to his designing a decorative piece for a motorboat.

We sketched silhouettes of laser cut metal he would be using to replace strings on the metal frame of a harp on the boat.

In conclusion, it was an amazing and enlightening experience showing the hardships and creating interest in the artistic field, and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to attend."
