The School Day

Please click on the expandable section below for more information about our Lower and Upper School day.

Lower School

School gates open at 8:25am and with our soft start, classroom doors open at 8.30am. Classroom doors are closed at 8:40am. This means that if you aim for arrival at school at 8:30am you can drop your child straight into their classroom, with a 10-minute period before registration to allow for delays to your journey.

Registration for all-year groups is 8:40am. If children arrive after class doors are closed, they must be taken to the office to sign in so that we can ensure that all children in school are registered. Please don’t leave children in the playground to make their own way in.

Positive Play times

We know that playtimes are an integral part of our pupils' school experience and learning.

We have developed ways to ensure that playtimes are positive, enjoyable and supportive for all of our pupils:

KS2 Peer Mentors

"We teach other children new games."

"If we see someone has hurt their head, we find an adult."

"We are role models. That means showing how to follow the school rules."

"Some little children get upset and so I help them sort out the problem."

Mrs C Parmar - Higher Level Teaching Assistant & Lunchtime Lead

Mrs A Parmar leads in ensuring that playtimes are positive for all pupils and staff. She listens to feedback and with school leaders, celebrates successes and puts forward ways to improve.

Teaching Support Staff

Our teaching Support Staff are on duty with the pupils at lunchtimes. This ensures that adults who know the pupils well, can feedback to class teachers and families and are always present in the playground.

Activities

We have equipment activities in the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), climbing equipment, an outdoor classroom and lots of spaces to sit, move and play.

End of the School Day

  • Children who are not collected within 10 minutes of dismissal time will be taken to the school hall, from where they can be collected via the main entrance.
  • Late pickups will be asked to sign a ‘Late Collection’ book, and parents/carers who are regularly late to collect their children will be invited to a meeting in school to discuss how we can help to reduce these incidents.
  • If any parents/carers know that they will be late collecting their child, they are asked to inform the school office as early as possible to avoid any unnecessary concern.
  • Please make sure that all the people who will be collecting your child are recorded on the blue collection form. If someone else is going to collect your child, please let the class teacher or the school office know in advance.
  • Upper School students can collect Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 siblings but they must be registered on the blue collection form. Older siblings who are 16 or younger are unable to collect younger siblings who are in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

If you wish your child to travel to or from school by themselves, and they are in Year 5 or Year 6, please fill in an "Independent Travellers" form available in the school office.

Please note that school recommends that all children should be accompanied by an adult to and from school until they are in Year 5. Please remember, you are responsible for your children at the end of the day. They should be in your sight at all times. They must not play in the MUGA.

WE ARE A BRENT SCHOOL STREET

Please be aware that any vehicle that does not have a permit or exemption will receive a penalty charge notice from Brent Council and this is entirely out of our hands.

These roads should not be driven on without an exemption or permit between 8.00am to 9.00am and 2.30pm to 4:00pm. This is inclusive from Monday to Friday.

The four roads that are directly affected are:

  • Carlton Avenue East
  • Princess Avenue
  • Bowling Green Ct
  • Elmstead Avenue

If you have an arranged appointment with the school, it will be important to ensure that your vehicle registration number is provided to the school either when signing in or in advance, so we can provide your details to avoid a penalty charge. If people are struggling with where to park to bring their child to school, Preston Road has a pay and display car park which is free for the first hour.
