Year 5 Explore Portrait Techniques with Marco Ferrara

As part of their art curriculum at Preston Manor Lower School, Year 5 students have been exploring the fascinating world of portrait art. To enhance their learning experience, Ms. Teves organized a special workshop led by Marco Ferrara, a talented artist from Brent Concrete Canvas Arts.

Marco brought his expertise and enthusiasm to the classroom, introducing the students to various portrait techniques. The session was educational and an inspiring opportunity for our young artists to develop their skills and creativity under professional guidance.

This initiative is part of our broader goal at Preston Manor Lower School to strengthen links between the school, the local community, and charities in Brent. Through collaborations like these, we aim to provide students with enriching experiences that extend beyond the classroom, helping them to develop important values such as:

  • Community Engagement: Encouraging students to connect with and contribute to their local community.
  • Empathy: Teaching the importance of understanding and helping others.
  • Creativity: Inspiring students to express themselves and explore new ideas.
  • Collaboration: Promoting teamwork and learning from professionals and peers.
  • Cultural Appreciation: Helping students value diverse artistic styles and cultural traditions.
  • Responsibility: Encouraging students to play an active role in positive change.
  • Kindness: Highlighting the importance of supporting others and fostering goodwill.

By working with organizations like Brent Concrete Canvas Arts and WE RESTART we continue to provide opportunities for students to grow into thoughtful, creative, and socially conscious individuals.

We look forward to building more connections that support our students and the wider community.
